Vice president heads for Paraguay
Vice President and DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-teh has wrapped-up his transit in New York City and left the U-S for Paraguay to attend the inauguration of President-elect Santiago Pena.
Lai attended a banquet hosted by overseas Taiwanese groups while in the Big Apple. According to Taiwan's representative office in New York, American Institute in Taiwan Chair Laura Rosenberger delivered a pre-recorded video message during the banquet - in which she described Taiwan as a "beacon of democracy in the Indo-Pacific region."
Rosenberger also called the US-Taiwan friendship as being "rock solid" and said she will meet Lai in-person when he transits in San Francisco on his return to Taiwan.
