MOEA minister in France
Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) minister Wang Mei-hua is heading a seven-member delegation to France this week.
Her office says the eight-day visit is aimed at cementing the trade partnership between the two countries. Wang is slated to attend the opening of the Taiwan pavilion at the 2023 Viva Technology in Paris, seen as Europe's biggest start-up and tech event.
She will host several activities to explore two-way business opportunities and to cement Taiwan's status as a key supplier in global supply chains. The MOEA also says Wang will also be meeting with French companies in a bid to increase their investment in Taiwan, and with Taiwanese business owners to help them extend their presence in European markets.
Data shows that Taiwan-France trade topped US5.8 billion last year and that was a 14% increase from 2021 - making Taiwan the fourth-largest investor in the European Union. French investors invested US$1.34 billion in Taiwan in the first four months this year.
