Premier Chen Chien-jen has announced plans to invest over $64 billion NT over seven years starting from next year for the electrification of city buses by 2030. This forms part of the government’s broader strategy to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The programme aims to replace approximately 9,400 fossil fuel buses with electric ones, with support extended to bus manufacturers for the development of high-quality, domestic electric buses.

The government hopes that this initiative will not only stimulate local industrial development and boost the international supply chain but also contribute to an energy-saving and carbon-reducing living environment.
