Taoyuan airport passenger volume hits 10 million

The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation says passenger volume so far this year has now surpassed 10 million.
According to corporation chairman Yang Wei-fu, the airport expects to handle 28 million passenger trips this year - which would be 58% of 2019's total - prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
Yang says transport capacity at the airport has grown by 68.6%, from 21,000 passengers per day after Taiwan reopened its borders and eased coronavirus restrictions on 13 October last year, to a daily average of 91,000 in April.
The corporation chairman also says the percentage of airport shops now operating has reached 79% of 2019's level.
