E-bus manufacturer breaks ground in Changhua
Electric bus maker Master Transportation has broken ground on a 20-hectare manufacturing complex in Changhua County.
The company says the NT$1.8-2.5 billion manufacturing site on the Central Taiwan Science Park's Erli campus will be operational before the end of 2024 and generate up to NT$500 billion in output value.
The science park first approved the investment plan in August of 2021, with the aim of creating a supply chain to manufacture electric buses for both the domestic market and export.
Master Transportation says the complex will include a research and development centre, an automatic battery pack production plant, a body chassis plant and an overseas delivery centre.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua said she hopes Master Transportation can transform itself into a global player in the electric bus sector by partnering up with domestic electronics and electrical machinery companies.
Master Transportation Chairman Wu Ding-fa has said the company is in talks with 47 Taiwanese firms to discuss potential collaboration.
