TSMC dominates 1Q23 patent applications

TSMC led Taiwan's patent applications with a record-breaking 752 submissions in the first quarter of this year, setting a record for the highest number of applications in a single quarter.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has reported a 2% decrease in overall patent applications compared to last year.
In the list of top 10 domestic invention patent applicants, TSMC is followed by MediaTek, Nanya Tech, Innolux, AU Optronics, Realtek, Inventec, Chunghwa Telecom, Macronix, and ITRI. In the field of design patents, Acer continued to rank first with 24 applications.
Japan leads foreign invention patent applications, followed by the United States, China, South Korea, and Germany.
