Taiwan 27th happiest globally
Taiwan has been ranked 27th globally and fourth in Asia in the latest World Happiness Report.
The report is released by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network and based on life evaluations from the Gallup World Poll.
According to the 2023 World Happiness Report, Taiwan only trailed Israel, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates in Asia. However, globally the island fell one place from last year's report.
The report compiled data from surveys conducted in more than 150 countries and territories to measure happiness based on average evaluations over a three-year period.
The key variables the report quantifies are income, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and freedom from corruption.
Finland once again tops the rankings for the sixth consecutive year while Afghanistan has remained at the bottom for three consecutive years.
