January export orders fall 19.3%

Export orders received by Taiwanese companies in January fell 19.3% to US$47.51 billion in January compared to the same month in 2022. According to figures provided by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), it was the fifth consecutive month showing an annual decline in orders.

Orders fell in all industry categories with the exception of ICT products, which rose by 9.8% year-on-year to US$17.23 billion. However, orders for the next largest category by amount, electronic products, declined by 21.8% to US$15.03 billion. Broken down by region, Europe was the only area to see a rise in orders for the month by 18.3% to US$13.38 billion while orders from the USA, China, ASEAN countries and Japan fell by 14.7%, 45.9%, 29.1% and 6%, respectively.
