Mask mandate to be eased on 20 February
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) says it will be easing its indoor face mask mandate on 20 February as part of its move to lift Covid-19 related regulations islandwide.
The move means people will no longer be required to wear face masks in most indoor settings. However, face masks will remain mandatory in medical facilities and on all forms of public transport.
If the Covid-19 situation remains stable, the CECC says it expects to lift the indoor face mask mandate for schools at all levels, as well as preschools, childcare centres and cram schools on 6 March.
However, health officials continue to "recommend" that people with respiratory symptoms, the elderly or immunocompromised and those in crowded venues where it is impossible to maintain social distancing continue to wear face masks.
