The new cabinet, led by Premier Chen Chien-jen, as well as Secretary-General to the President Lin Chia-lung and other new Presidential Office appointees, have been sworn into office.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidential Office and hosted by President Tsai Ing-wen. It marked the end of a reshuffle in both the cabinet and the Presidential Office.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice President Lai Ching-te, National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Koo, the heads of the Judicial Yuan, the Control Yuan and the Examination Yuan.

Speaking at a separate ceremony in the Cabinet building, Chen Chien-jen said he and his cabinet officials will spare no effort during their tenure until the end of Tsai's second term in May 2024.

Chen said one of his cabinet's priorities was to further loosen Covid-19 disease prevention protocols with the aim of "bringing the lives of people back to normal."

Chen says the cabinet will be dedicated to helping companies and individuals that have been economically impacted by the pandemic over the past three years.
