Premier Su Tseng-chang says the cap of inbound traveller will be raised to 200,000 a week from the current 150,000 starting next month.

Su says he has instructed the Central Epidemic Control Center (CECC) to make sure that Taiwan's medical facilities are fully capable of handling the pressure that may come with the new measure.

The CECC lifted border controls on 13 October, meaning travellers coming to Taiwan no longer need to undergo quarantine and Taiwanese people can freely travel abroad.

The CECC says since then the number of people going through the Taoyuan International Airport has increased markedly.
