President Tsai calls for BIA with the UK

President Tsai Ing-wen is calling for the signing of a bilateral investment deal with the UK.

 

She made the statement during a meeting with the visiting UK Minister of State for Trade Policy Greg Hands.

 

Tsai told the visiting official that her administration's goal is to strengthen mutually beneficial economic and trade exchange as a consequence, she hopes Taiwan and the U-K can work together towards signing a bilateral investment agreement.

 

Tsai also said that Taiwan and the UK have been deepening partnerships in areas such as technology, energy, business, and trade over the past few years and Taiwan now looks forward to working with London to build more resilient global supply chains.

 

Hands arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday for a two-day visit.

 

Aside from meeting the president, he also co-hosted the annual UK-Taiwantrade talks and he held talks with other senior government officials, including top trade negotiator John Deng and Minister of Economics Affairs Wang Mei-hua.
