Convenience store revenues hit record highs

Taiwan’s two biggest convenience chains saw their September revenues reach new highs. Uni-President Chain Store recorded revenue of NT$24.6 billion last month, and its combined revenue during the first nine months of the year came at NT$214.6 billion, an increase of 10.6% year-on-year. The company says its 7-11 stores have benefited from the beginning of the school year and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Its investments in subsidiaries, including Starbucks coffee shops and COSMED, also posted annual gains. Meanwhile Family Mart's September revenue also reached NT$7.6 billion and the combined revenue so far this year stood at NT$67.2 billion, a new high for the franchise. The franchise' App now touts 15 million members as its functions continue to expand. Family Mart currently has 4,100 outlets nationwide, while 7-11 has over 6,570.
