Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) head Victor Wang has confirmed that the government will re-open Taiwan's borders without a mandatory quarantine requirement for arrivals by 15 October at the latest.

According to Wang, the cabinet is currently meeting to review the policy and a formal announcement will be made when it has been finalized.

However, Wang says he's not sure whether that announcement will be made today.

Health officials have been saying they're still monitoring daily case numbers to confirm if the peak of the current coronavirus outbreak has passed.

The CECC said yesterday that any decision on the matter will depend on how the coronavirus situation develops.
