The National Communications Commission has approved an amendment to Public Television Service's operational plan to allow it to broadcast content from the government-funded TaiwanPlus English-language online video streaming service on a terrestrial television channel.

According to the commission, the Taiwan Plus broadcasts will also be aired on Chunghwa Telecom's multimedia on demand services and are scheduled to go live on 10 October.

TaiwanPlus currently sources part of its content from Public Television Service as well as other media outlets and government agencies.

According to the online video streaming service it will ensure that at least 25% of the content it supplies to terrestrial television channel and Chunghwa Telecom's MOD service will be original.

The Public Television Service began operating TaiwanPlus in June. The National Communications Commission says Taiwan Plus is also in talks with local cable TV operators in the hope of rolling out its content on cable television.
