The Ministry of Labor (MOL) says a new "one-stop service" aimed at newly arrivingmigrant domestic workers will be launched at the start of next year.

According to the ministry, the service will feature extended pre-employment training for domestic workers and make it easier for employers to apply for necessary documentation.

Migrant workers are currently required to receive only a 30-minute pre-employment lecture on arrival, before being transported to dormitories arranged by their employers to wait for the documentation.

However, the ministry says it believes the short lecture is inadequate to ensure new migrant workers are familiar with local laws.

Under the improved service, pre-employment training will be extended to three days from January of next year.

Labour officials say it's hoped that will provide newly arrived migrant workers with a more thorough review of relevant laws and regulations and ensure they better understand their labor rights and how to find help if they encounter any difficulties in the workplace.
