Lithuania's deputy economics minister says Vilnius is seeking to open a trade office here in Taiwan in September. According to the official, the office's opening is aimed at further strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations between the two sides.

The deputy economics minister headed a 10-member delegation of representatives from Lithuania's high tech sector to Taiwan earlier this week. She says Lithuanian government is now accepting applications from candidates for the first head of the Lithuanian trade office in Taiwan.

Speaking to reporters prior to leaving Taiwan last night, the Lithuanian deputy economics minister said she had been visiting possible locations for the office this week.

She also said that in addition to officially opening the trade office, a major delegation of representatives from Lithuania's biotech and laser sectors is also scheduled to visit Taiwan in September.
