A legislative friendship group aimed at building closer ties with Poland has been officially inaugurated at the Legislative Yuan.

At the launch of the Taiwan-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association, Poland's top envoy to Taiwan said he hoped the group will help to further bilateral economic cooperation.

Cyryl Kozachefsky said Taiwan and Poland have shown they were like-minded partners in their responses to the Russia-Ukraine war even as he thanked the government for sending humanitarian relief to Poland for Ukrainian refugees there.

The newly formed group is headed by DPP lawmaker Lin Qing-yi.

Lin says that although the coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for physical meetings, she hopes there will be more parliamentary exchanges in the second half of this year.

Legislative Yuan's Secretary-General Lin Zhi-jia says Legislative Speaker You Xi-kun could visit Poland later this year.
