Taiwan is joining the growing list of countries calling for an investigation into alleged war crimes by Russian troops in Ukraine.

This, after evidence showing Moscow's troops had summarily executed hundreds of civilians in the town of Bucha.

Foreign ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou says the government is expressing "the strongest condemnation" of the act of "mercilessly massacring civilians" and is calling for an immediate investigation into the matter.

Ou also says Taiwan will continue working with like-minded countries to assist the Ukrainian people amid the ongoing crisis.

The MOFA spokesperson says the government has raised nearly US$33 million in relief funds and collected 650 tonnes of regular and medical supplies.

These are intended to help both refugees and those remaining in the country.
