New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih says his administration is suspending on-site classes at two schools in the city after a student at each of them tested positive for the coronavirus.

One of the students attends a junior high school, while the other attends an elementary school in New Taipei.

According to the city mayor, both of the schools are in the Linkou District and will be conducting remote classes for two weeks.

The classmates and teachers of the two students who tested positive will remainquarantined until 25 February while all of the school's other students will be tested twice during that two week period.

The Central Epidemic Command Center says both of the New Taipei student cases are linked to a cluster at a gravel supplier in Kaohsiung.

The cases in that cluster have now spread to Tainan, Miaoli County, Hsinchu County, and New Taipei.
