The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) says strict border control measures will remain in place until the national vaccination rate rises.
Figures show that around 40% of the island's population of 23.5 million people have received a first vaccine shot.
However, less than 3% have had the two shots needed to be fully vaccinated.
Experts have said that Taiwan will need to vaccinate at least 60% of its population to achieve herd immunity in order to safely reopen to the outside world.
