The new minister of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) has said that his top priority on the job is to fully implement the reform plan for the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA).
Wang Guo-cai also pledges to TRA workers that their pay, benefits and other rights won't be reduced.
Wang took over the office at a ceremony earlier today after his predecessor Lin Jia-long stepped down due to the 2 April deadly train crash.
Wang also lists completing Taoyuan International Airport's terminal 3 and improving the island's ports and harbours among his most important goals.
He stresses that his first and foremost mission is to make sure that people can travel in a safe environment and reduce traffic accidents.
