Premier Su Tseng-chang has approved the resignation of transport Minister Lin Chia-lung.
Lin submitted his resignation following the 2 April train crash in Hualien, saying he will step down to take political responsibility for the accident.
He tendered his formal resignation letter to both the premier and President Tsai Ing-wen two days after the crash.
According to cabinet spokesman Luo Bing-cheng, Lin's resignation will take effect on 20 April 20. However, the cabinet spokesman has not said who will replace Lin as transport minister.
The government held its first memorial service for the crash victims on Thursday and it was attended by Tsai, Su and Lin.
