MOEA to assist exporters with China tariffs
Deputy Economics Minister CC Chen says the government plans to assist local polycarbonate exporters deal with the negative impact of Beijing's decision to levy anti-dumping tariffs on their products.
The statement comes after China announced that polycarbonate imports from Taiwan will face temporary anti-dumping tariffs of up to 22.4%.
According to Chen, the Ministry of Economic Affairs will "provide consultations and assist" affected companies expand into other markets, including Europe, Southeast Asia, North Africa and the Americas.
Chen says the ministry will also subsidize any legal actions the affected companies choose to take against the tariffs.
China says it levied the tariffs as its domestic polycarbonate sector has suffered substantial damage from Taiwan's dumping practices. The tariffs took effect on Tuesday.
