Terry Gou to seek KMT presidential nomination
Terry Gou has announced his plans to seek the opposition Kuomintang’s (KMT) 2024 presidential nomination - saying Taiwan "needs a great CEO."
Gou says if he's nominated he will do his best to unite the "non-green camp," as "the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cannot continue to remain in power."
Speaking to reporters, Gou said he hopes he will represent the KMT to compete against the DPP's Lai Ching-te in what he described as a "battle of gentlemen."
Gou also apologized for leaving the KMT four years ago - saying that "disappointed many party supporters" and he's "very sorry for that."
He went on to say Taiwan should not take sides in conflicts between the US and China and that young people should he told that "voting for the DPP would be dangerous, as it has called for Taiwan independence and advocated hating and resisting China."
