OCAC to open more Mandarin learning centres overseas
08 November, 2022
Overseas Community Affairs Council head Tong Zhen-yuan says his office is planning to open 25 more branches of the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning next year.
Tong told the members of the Legislative Yuan that the current plan is to establish additional Mandarin learning centres exclusively in the United States and Europe.
Tong said that decision is based on "national strategy," and that it targets "adult education," while the council's similar Mandarin learning initiative in Southeast Asia is aimed at students.
A total of 43 Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning have been established to date, including 34 in the U-S, two in the United Kingdom, and seven more across France, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Sweden, and Hungary.
