CECC shortens Covid quarantine to 5 days
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has announced that the self-isolation period for people who test positive for Covid-19 will be reduced starting from 14 November.
CECC head Victor Wang says patients will only have to isolate for five days instead of the current seven and the self-health management protocol will no longer be required if they testnegative after the five-day period. However, those who do test positive for Covid-19 at the end of the five-day period, will still have to observe the self-health management protocols for a maximum of seven days. Wang also says it will be up to the Central Election Commission to decide whether people who have Covid-19 will be allowed to vote in the 26 November local elections.
This comes as the CECC reported over 33,000 new local cases of Covid-19 yesterday, along with 53 new deaths from the disease. The CECC says, of the new domestic cases, New Taipei City continues to report the highest number of infections, followed by Taichung and Kaohsiung.
