Lithuanian and French delegations visit Taiwan

A visiting Lithuanian delegation has held talks with Deputy Science Minister Lin Min-tsong. The delegation is being led by the country's Vice Economy and Innovation Minister and is in Taiwan for a four-day visit.The Ministry of Science and Technology says talks focused on advanced technologies, talent development in the high-tech sector and tech startups.The ministry says no specific agreements were reached during the meeting, but the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute plans to collaborate with Lithuania on semiconductor talent cultivation.The Lithuanian delegation has said that a strongrelationship between the two sides is a solid foundationfor the development of industrial clusters in laser technology and genetic science.

 

Lithuania is also looking to expand exchanges with Taiwan in the fields of semiconductors, laser technology and genetic science.The delegation is comprised of representatives from Lithuania's high-tech sector and is scheduled to visit the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute and Hsinchu Science Park later today.

 

In other diplomatic news, a visiting delegation of French senators has toured Keelung City Expo.The delegation is being led by Joel Guerriau, the vice chairman of the French Senate's Taiwan Friendship Group.

 

It was accompanied on a tour of the Expo's main West Pier Warehouse 2 pavilion by Keelung Mayor Lin Yu-chang and lawmaker Tsai Shih-ying. The French senator learned about the Keelung Campaign by the French during the Sino-French War in the mid-1880s.

 

Guerriau said it was important to understand the past in order to face the future, and he praised the pavilion because it allowed people to explore the city's history and contemplate what lies ahead. Guerriau noted that visiting senators were particularly impressed with thehistorical and archaeological aspects of the expo.
