Covid jabs for 6-11 year-olds to begin on 2 May
The Ministry of Education says it is preparing to begin offering Covid jabs to children aged between 6-11 on school campuses as early as next Monday.
The statement comes after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices approved the use of the Moderna vaccine for children in that age bracket. The education ministry has asked schools to work with their local health authorities to begin offering the shots on 2 May, either on campus or at designated health facilities.
Other than distributing vaccine information sheets and consent forms, schools have also been requested to seek feedback on parents' willingness to have their children vaccinated at school. The ministry says it is also asking schools to monitor students closely on the day they receive the shot and to avoid scheduling strenuous physical activities within two weeks after the shots are administered.
